Q&A WITH COMMISSIONER GALO

I want to continus promoting efficiency, transparency and accountability across all Webb County departments and improving value for your hard-earned tax dollars.

I have based my career in County government on a simple ABC’S plan, which I continue to use as my foundation moving into the future.

When I was first elected County Commissioner, we faced a budget crisis.  The County was operating at a deficit and the process lacked transparency.  It took some time and a lot of probing questions to get to the truth to be able to start cutting the waste, which we did.

There is still more work to be done but now we have a truly balanced budget and even reduced the tax rate. 

As your County Commissioner for Precinct 3, I have made it my mission to make Webb County Accountable to the taxpayers.

Though not always the most popular position, I have consistently worked to make the tough decisions regarding the county’s budgeting process and operating efficiency.

I want to continue this mission.

In a time of increasing valuations, we must work diligently to improve and increase mandated services while being more efficient, not to burden the taxpayer any further.

Public service has been at the core of my soul throughout my adult life.  As a lifetime Laredoan, I have seen our community grow through good times and times of challenge.  These are complex times in which we live, with many external forces imposing new challenges on us.

Helping to guide Webb County through these times is more than a call to service.  It’s my job.
